Donovan's Story

In September of 2015, Hartford Animal Control Officer Sherry DeGenova responded to a call for a dog hit by a car and left on the side of the road. When she arrived she found an approximately nine-month-old male Rottweiler puppy suffering from what appeared to be a broken leg. He was taken to the vet and it turned out that he had a shattered right rear femur and needed surgery immediately. The veterinarian also discovered compression fractures on both of the dog’s front legs, and cigarette burns on the top of his head.
Kenway’s Cause immediately stepped in to help. His surgery to repair his back leg was extensive. He had plates and screws put in and he required physical therapy. When his original foster home changed their minds, he instead went to Sherry’s house to be fostered. Foster turned to #fosterfail and he was adopted. He now lives happily with two dog and three cat siblings.
